He had high performance cars and the nearby Riverside racetrack at his fingertips. The math was simple. The Carroll Shelby School of High Performance Driving was formed and served as a forerunner of many similar schools in existence today.
Countless young drivers took their turns behind the wheel of the 'T' car in hope of honing their driving skills under the watchful eyes of Carroll Shelby and his chief instructors, Pete Brock and John Timanus. Many hours were spent discussing theory and technique using a chalk board before any time was spent at the wheel of the Cobra, but when the time came, it was a memorable experience for those fortunate enough to participate.
